What do wecheckbefore a review goes live?
Every game on caelquendared.site goes through the same three-stage pipeline: a full playthrough, a mechanics teardown, and an honest verdict. If we could not finish a game, we say so in the first paragraph.
The Review Checklist
-
01
Full Playthrough
We finish the game from the title screen to the credits, extra modes included. First-impressions pieces are labeled as such.
-
02
Mechanics Teardown
Input latency, hitboxes, difficulty curve, balance. We measure what can be measured and describe what cannot.
-
03
Verdict & Score
Findings are condensed into a score on our own scale, plus a straight answer to who the game is actually for.
Field Notes: Playtest Builds — 2026 Season
An opinion is not an ad —it is a check of the facts.
We never rely on first impressions alone. Every score is backed by a finished playthrough: hours logged, mechanics probed on multiple difficulty settings, patches noted. That is what makes our verdicts predictable and honest.
Our editors have been playing arcade games for decades. We compare new releases against the classics of the genre and answer the only question that matters: what does this game do that we have not seen before?
Fact-Checking
Every review passes an editorial check: claimed features are verified in-game, screenshots are our own, and store-page promises are compared against the build we actually played.
Independence
No one can pay for a score. Publishers and studios do not see our texts before publication, and every copy we review is bought at retail — like any other player.
No Spoilers
Story twists stay out of our reviews. We dissect gameplay, structure and mood — the plot remains yours to discover.
Player-First Language
No marketing slang, no copy-pasted feature lists. If a game is rough, we say exactly where it stumbles and why.
Neon Arcade
New releases and re-releases of arcade games: rhythm, reflexes, leaderboards. For anyone who loves one more run.

A Good Arcade Game Is an Honest Challenge
caelquendared.site grew out of a simple observation: a good game does not hide behind graphics and marketing. An arcade lives or dies by its controls, its rhythm and its fair balance — and the only way to check that is to play it yourself.
We write for people who remember coin-op cabinets and for those who discovered the genre yesterday. Our only criterion is a game you still want to come back to a month after release.
Our Review Scale
What earns points and what loses them
Note: every game is scored individually, after a complete playthrough.
People who still argue about leaderboard records.
Written by people who stillhold the records.
caelquendared.site is run by gamer-editors with a decade or more of play behind them. We know the difference between a decent game and a great one comes down to milliseconds of input response and a handful of honestly built mechanics.
We do not chase volume. Three reviews a week, each of a game we actually finished and understood, beats five rewrites of someone else's press release.
